Dr. John D. Franklin was born in Louisville, Kentucky and earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Tennessee in Memphis in 1966. Dr. Franklin completed his post-doctoral training at Vanderbilt University and Affiliated Hospitals in Surgery and Plastic Surgery.
Dr. Franklin is licensed in the State of Tennessee and Georgia and certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Dr. Franklin has served as Professor and Chairman Department of Plastic Surgery at the University of Tennessee, Chattanooga Unit from1988 to 1995.
Dr. Franklin is a member of many committees and organizations, including the International Society of Reconstructive Microsurgery, the American Society of Plastic Surgery, the American Association of Plastic Surgeons, the Tennessee Medical Association, the Southeastern Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, and others.
Dr. John D. Franklin is well known throughout the region, as well as nationally and internationally. He has published numerous articles in medical books and journals and has been one of the pioneers in introducing microsurgery in the USA, particularly in the State of Tennessee.
